About Creative Conversations

Creative Conversations are partnerships between arts communities nationwide and the Americans for the Arts Emerging Leader Council being held throughout October in honor of National Arts and Humanities Month.  These locally organized, meet-up-style gatherings are intended to foster leadership in the arts.  They target arts professionals who are new to the field, or who are under the age of 35, but welcome people of all ages who are interested in strengthening the nation’s arts communities.

Goals for the Creative Conversation

1. Introduce emerging leaders to one another and to Providence art, culture and design organizations

2. Create of a strong, local network of dynamic emerging leaders committed to strengthening the Providence community

3. Inform emerging Providence leaders about critical issues in the local arts and humanities, and identify issues of importance to conversation participants

4. Enhance participants’ leadership capacity and their drive to develop innovative, effective, and responsible practices

5. Publicize National Arts and Humanities Month and Providence arts and humanities organizations

6. Provide Americans for the Arts with feedback and ideas to assist in national programmatic planning for 2007, which will include a leadership focus, peer group meetings, and other emerging leader activities to take place at Americans for the Arts’ 2008 Annual Convention.
